Young Explainers
The Nebula
The Nebula is a newspaper written and designed by residents and students in Plymouth and includes contributions from visitors to British Art Show7. The intention of this paper is to provide a clear introduction to this extraordinary exhibition, demystify some of the language of Contemporary Art, consider some of the themes of British Art Show 7 and showcase the creative life of Plymouth.
The Nebula is the work of Young Plymouth Arts Centre (YPAC), students from Plymouth College of Art (cura100) and the Young Explainers. Those students working on The Nebula include Fine Art, Art History and Graphic Communication with Typography.

Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery‘s youth forum The Core have been developing ideas to engage 13 – 18 year olds with the exhibition. A film was created for the Big Screen in Plymouth’s city centre, and also two short idents for the exhibition were produced. These were made with two recent graduates of Plymouth University, Bethany Ditchburn and Jamie Harris. You can see the results of all their hard work below:
The Core also planned and delivered an event for Big Draw Day 2011 with students from BA (Hons) Illustration at Plymouth University. The event was called Cosmic Venturers, and you can see images of this event on the Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery’s Flickr page.

Young Motion Plymouth
Young Motion Plymouth is a celebration of young film-making talent in partnership with Motion Plymouth and Plymouth City Council. Now in its 5th year, the event showcases the talents of the young people of Plymouth. The films this year will be British Art Show 7 focused, as those taking part have been asked to make films based on the five key themes of the exhibition.
