Young People

Young Explainers

The Young Explainers programme is a collaborative programme between Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery and Plymouth University, which offers students opportunities for work based learning and training. A recent project has seen them collaborate with Onshore Media to create a film ‘trailer’ for the exhibition, before it reached the city on September 18th 2011. The film was shown on the BBC Big Screen in Plymouth City Centre. You can see their results below:

The Young Explainers have also been creating Art Bites - short, informal, 30 minute tours on a range of themes relating to British Art Show 7 while on display in the city.

The Core

Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery‘s youth forum The Core have been developing ideas to engage 13 – 18 year olds with the exhibition. A film was created for the Big Screen in Plymouth’s city centre, and also two short idents for the exhibition were produced. These were made with two recent graduates of Plymouth University, Bethany Ditchburn and Jamie Harris. You can see the results of all their hard work below:

Cosmic Venturers - Big Draw Day 2011

The Core also planned and delivered an event for Big Draw Day 2011 with students from BA (Hons) Illustration at Plymouth University. The event was called Cosmic Venturers, and you can see images of this event on the Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery’s Flickr page.
